Hi, I am Kim, the cookie decorator and business owner behind Just Because Cookies.

At Just Because Cookies we specialise in custom decorated sugar cookies with royal icing.

I’ve had a love of baking since I was about 12 years old, growing up in Broome, in the north-west of Western Australia. I would read recipe books and come up with a variety of sweet treats, like cakes and slices, for my family to enjoy. They were always complimentary and encouraged my love of baking.

Fast forward to 2010 and working an office job, when a colleague brought some beautifully decorated sugar cookies in, to share with staff. Let me just say, I immediately loved them! They looked and tasted amazing. I asked a bazillion questions and went off to find out what I had to do to make these amazing little pieces of edible art. I practiced and researched as much as I could. It was so much fun and soon enough I was making so many cookies that my daughters and I could not eat them all ourselves. I started taking them into my work to share around. Work friends would often ask why I made these cookies, and I would look at them, shrug my shoulders and say “just because”. Before too long, people started asking me to make cookies for their own special events and that is how Just Because Cookies got started.

We are a registered, inspected and insured home-based bakery located in Seville Grove, Perth on Whadjuk Nyoongar country in Western Australia.
